PPC Applications : OziExplorerCE v2.19

Overview: OziExplorer allows you to work with maps on the computer screen that you create from scanned or digital maps. Ideal for planning trips, for boating, 4 wheel driving, flying, hiking etc and as a real time navigation aid.

OziExplorerCE is moving map software for PocketPC's and Window CE PDA's which use the WinCE core operating system. It uses raster map images which are either scanned or purchased in digital format. It allows you to track your position received from a GPS on a map (moving map).

OziExplorerCE is not automatic route planning software, you cannot request the best way to get from point A to point B, the types of maps OziExplorerCE uses do not allow this. However OziExplorerCE will allow you to create your own routes on the map and navigate along those.

The design philosophy is you plan your trip using the full PC OziExplorer on you PC and then transfer your waypoints and other data to your PDA for use by OziExplorerCE.

SatCE v1.44 : Pocket Pc GPS

Requirements: PocketPC 2002, 2003(SE), WM5, WM6
Overview: SatCE is the fastest satelite tracking software for Pocket PC. To correctly predict the satellite position you need fresh the data (not more than 5 days old)!!! Also the accurate location (lat, lon) and time. The UTC time is taken from Windows CE system therefore set apposite time zone in settings.

Main features:
This program is using SDP4/SGP4 algorithms to calculate near and far satellites positions in space. In all calculations of lat and lon the oblate Earth shape is used. The program uses GAPI engine for graphics and API for text mode.
SatCE can track up to 150 satellites at once (but this is not the hard limit).
SatCE reads standard two lines elements *.tle files containing satellites orbital parameters.
SatCE is very fast (much faster than I could find for sat tracking in internet for PocketPC)!!! A screen is updated every second without any delay with all these fancy things. There is also a lot of info like satellites parameters, moon distance its face size and some information about sun.
Satellites can be selected in map and sky mode by taping them with the stick. Only selected satellites from menu bar are displayed. By default all satellites are displayed. Come back to text mode is with help of enter button (just push every one if you don't know which one it is).

hTorch v3.2 : Pocket Pc Software

Overview: hTorch is a small application with a graphical user interface that enables you to use your Windows Mobile phone as flashlight.

hTorch is built for the HTC Raphael (aka HTC Touch Pro) and has only been tested on this device. Although users reported that it works on Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 as well. PLEASE NOTE: Use this application at your own risk! I’ve done as much testing as possible, and will try to fix every bug which will be reported but it's my first Windows Mobile application and I can not guarantee that it is free of bugs. (Well, even if it would be my 500th application I would still not be able to guarantee that - but anyway - you know what I mean ). NetRipper deserves most of the credit because my application uses his TorchButtonLibrary v1.0 to control the LED itself.

Usage:

The program installs itself into "%ProgramFiles%\hTorch" and also creates a shortcut into %StartMenu%\Programs\Accessories. The further usage is as simple as possible. Start hTorch using the shortcut. On program start the LED will automatically be turned on and you will see the programs main screen.

Registry Tweak to Free Up Memory while closing Opera Mobile [Hack]

After using Opera Mobile and exiting the application, you might notice in your Task Manager (other than HTC Task Manager) that its process is still running in the background until you kill it ( I think its mostly when the device is running TouchFlo 3D ).
You need to edit your registry at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Opera\Preload and change the value of “RealExit” from “0” to “1”. This would prevent Opera Mobile’s process from staying memory resident after exiting the application and forcing it to really exit, thus clearing up some memory space. In case you don’t have this registry hierarchy, create it. RealExit should be DWord.

For those who don’t want to play with the registry just use the cab file and reboot after installing it.
